         Self-introduction:

I received my B.Sc. degree in 1983 from the University of Hong Kong (HKU), my M.Sc. degree in 1995 and my Ph.D. degree in 1998, both from the Hong Kong University of Science & Technology (HKUST) in Computer Science. Currently I am a senior lecturer at the Department of Computing, Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (Tuen Mun). 

I have published in international journals, books and conferences. I have been involved in research projects on various topics related to Databases, in particular object-oriented databases (OODBs), including query language facilities for dynamic object clustering model, object class partitioning schemes, analytical cost models, method-induced vertical class partitioning and path partitioning. My PhD thesis also covered OODB indexing, in particular cost-based structural join index hierarchy, and developed heuristic algorithms for optimal index selections. My current research interests include query languages, conceptual clustering model, class partitioning, database indexing, multimedia databases, and XML databases.
